Is this a disaster, that President Bush appointed Mr. Bolton to the UN Ambassadorship today, avoiding the Senate confirmation process? I hear Mr. Bush has done this for 100-plus others since he took office, and that Bill Clinton did, too. A little perspective softens the blow a little. Personally, I expect Bolton to overcome his past and disappear into the fog. Could he and the Bush folk really believe they can reform the UN, whatever that means? With our current reputation? I wonder if Bolton is thinking, Thanks for nothing, W.
