Here's one you can blame on the media.

CNN and all the other television people did a fantastic job covering the Katrina disaster, live and on the scene. And CNN has done it almost none of the breathless hysteria of no-talents like Rita Cosby of MSNBC. Admirable, CNN.

The result of all this coverage: the U.S. Government's on our E-coli List. Along with Louisiana government, the New Orleans government, and countless related bureaucracies.

I'm waiting for the first Administration attack dog to blame the media for the general lack of approval in the polls for the pols. I say, the press and broadcast news organizations got this one perfectly right. This failure isn't a question of interpretation, any more than our underfunded, undermanaged Iraq rescue mission is a distortion. The facts are there to see. Katrina blew, but our government blew it.
