What he said.

This morning President Bush repeated what Admiral Allen (in charge of federal operations in New Orleans) said about Mayor Ray Nagin inviting the home folks home. I'll take just one cheap shot: "Slow down"--just what you'd expect from the feds, right?

O.K., snottiness aside, neither of these "leaders" have much credibility left. They should shut up, do their proper jobs, and speak only when Brian Williams or Bob Schieffer asks a question.

Yesterday the Admiral told Bob he's going to ask the Mayor to slow it down (Get transcript here). I think the NO folks most likely to want to come back would be sneaking in anyway, no invitation needed.

With Karl Rove supposedly running the recovery, we can expect more produced posturing for the core constituents. I wonder if that still works.

Followup: Late this afternoon, Mayor Nagin caved. Those who returned are asked to leave again starting no later than Wednesday. Well, there is another storm on the way. (NYTimes)
