More TV drug ad errors.

I watch my traffic counter daily--it gathers basic information on how you got to this site. I'm getting concerned that more of you are confusing the two biggest current drug advertising campaigns.

Requip is being promoted for Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). Cymbalta is being advertised as an antidepressant that also addresses some depression-related pain. Browse my other posts for more detail.

Some of you are searching for "Requip" plus "depression." Some have searched for "Cymbalta" plus "RLS." I hope none of you making these errors are physicians. Many people in medicine have said that advertising is a fine way to educate the public. As a former advertising worker, I don't think so.

FYI: there's a lot of evidence that RLS drugs like Requip and Mirapex may be very effective in the treatment of major depressive disorder and even Parkinson's disease.

Yep. As I posted earlier, Requip was originally approved by the FDA for Parkinson's Disease.
