Reflux.

Saw a Zantac 75 attack ad on TV this morning. Prilosec’s package, it said, reveals that it takes up to four days for Prilosec to be fully effective. Like, if you want fast relief, take Zantac.

I wonder why Zantac needs to take the Karl Rove route. There’s a Prilosec shortage. You’d think they’d just say, You can’t get Prilosec…try Zantac instead.

Waitaminit. Why is there a Prilosec shortage? Could it be that the pharma-giant AstraZeneca can’t keep up with demand on their most successful drug ever? They kept up fine when Prilosec was prescription-only. Could it be that they’d prefer the Prilosec user graduated to Nexium, their subtly different but basically identical prescription-only sequel drug?

To be continued.
