Armageddon tired of this...

This isn't a review of "Revelations," the NBC miniseries. I haven't seen it. This isn't exactly a rant, even. I'm not really complaining about hype. It's a fact of life. (If I were hyping, I'd say "the biggest fact of life.") I just think everybody should recognize and acknowledge hype when we see it. This particular hype vehicle seems to me more obvious than most, but I'm betting many of the evangelicals among us are celebrating this recognition by NBC of their, uh, importance. I'm imagining some of you are shouting "Don't encourage 'em!" at the tops of your voices. Chill. It's just a network trying to win the week. (By the way, if you want a review, Tom Shales says it's bad TV. But he hasn't had much fresh to say lately. The Post is billing him as its "Style Columnist" these days. Wha?)

I watched parts of it. It was dumb.
It was just, umm...mean. A little girl was struck by lightening and placed into a coma to be the messenger of god. Come on, can't he do better than that?

Sure God can do better than that...he just needs to hire a better promotion team. I have heard of a dynamite tandem that, given some time and a decent budget, could put the "Go" back in God.
