Crock 'o tears.

Remember William Hurt, in Broadcast News, having his cameraman shoot a closeup of him as he produces fake tears? TV news reporters may not cry on demand for their stories, but they do love to get interviewees to cry on camera. This morning on GMA, at the end of an interview with a relative of a missing district attorney, Charlie Gibson actually introduced footage from after the taped interview, in which the interviewee broke down. Didn't want us to miss that. If you haven't given up on TV news yet, watch how frequently stories feature people in extremis tear-ing up on camera. You're watching the decline of the medium. (No time to do links right now. Google 'em.)
