Bob Schieffer, CBS's Face the Nation host and interim Evening News anchor, is a man of common sense. This morning, on his FTN end-of-show commentary, he pointed out that the US's heritage is to pioneer and lead in science. Now, our government policy is to find ways to limit research. Bob opines that the role of government is to regulate the products of science, not regulate before we know what the product is. Here's the link; maybe by the time you go there they'll have posted the transcript. We've gotta turn this around. Check it out. It isn't just stem cell research where we're out of step. Name the last new TV show that didn't originate in the UK. Tony Blair now has to nudge Bush about global warming, not to mention African debt. Remember what happened to Galileo. Turns out the world is round, folks.
